This book represents a handbook Manual which deals with study and sampling methods applied to benthic organisms from a Mediterranean perspective. The Mediterranean Sea, in fact host some unique coastal environments (e.g., Posidonia oceanica beds, coralligenous formations) and it is characterized by unique hydrological, geo-morphological and historical conditions, which differ from any other "oceanic" system of reference. Nevertheless, at a Mediterranean level there is a lack of an organic and integrated corpus of methods to help and guide marine investigators.
