The editors propose to provide an encyclopedia "which is accepted as a standard work of reference" in a growing field that is still lacking such a tool. In this endeavor, they have succeeded admirably. All well-known experts in their areas of research, the contributors provide well-written articles, in nontechnical language, that will be accessible to students. A wide range of subfields are fully covered in longer analytic articles, while terms are defined in short glossary entries. All entries are linked together by See Also references, and most have short bibliographies. If the index (not seen) is as well done, this will indeed be a first-rate reference work. All academic libraries are urged to purchase this resource; while larger public libraries may consider, medium and small public libraries will not need such a specialized title.
