Este libro representa la primera colección de estudios sobre Contenido y Aprendizaje Integrado de Lenguaje (CLIL) que reúne una gama de perspectivas a través de las cuales CLIL ha sido investigado dentro de Lingüística Aplicada. El objetivo del libro es mostrar cómo las cuatro perspectivas de adquisición de segundo idioma (SLA), lingüística funcional sistémica (SFL), análisis del discurso y sociolingüística resaltan diferentes aspectos importantes de CLIL como contexto para el desarrollo del segundo idioma. Cada una de las cuatro secciones del libro se abre con una descripción general de una de las perspectivas escritas por un académico destacado en el campo, y luego siguen tres estudios empíricos que se centran en aspectos específicos de CLIL vistos desde esta perspectiva.
